‘Digital Transformation’ is the umbrella term to describe the novel use of digital technology such as Big Data, Analytics, Content Services, and Artificial Intelligence to solve traditional problems and spawn new insight, innovation and creativity.
The Digital Transformation Summit, held 21st-22nd May in Edinburgh, brought together expertise from Oil & Gas, Academia, Aerospace and other key industry sectors. The concept of digital transformation promises an exciting future where autonomous AI systems drive value creation, efficiency and safety, but these systems are not magical. Failure will be part of achieving success; and intervention of human expertise and behaviour together with good data management practice will remain critical defining characteristics of any effective digital transformation for many years to come.
