When you need more resources
It is not always feasible to employ a dedicated subsurface technical team to work on a project or opportunity. This is where Merlin’s outsourced technical team model can help.
Our integrated team works seamlessly with clients’ management and technical staff. As a result extra capacity or skills are available when and where they are required. This ensures you have the technical information needed for business decision making when you need it.
How we help

Merlin's Capability
Merlin has experience working with a number of companies to provide technical support in place of, or to supplement, in-house teams.
Nautical Petroleum UK activities
Merlin Geoscience were involved in supporting Nautical Petroleum's technical requirements from the point they acquired their licences. Working as a virtual team we carried out exploration evaluations, which became field appraisal activities and continued to provision of a field development plan (FDP). Commercialisation via integrated subsurface and commercial appraisal programmes of the operated Kraken Field was a prime focus. Six appraisal wells, including a “proof-of-concept” horizontal producer were drilled on the asset. This subsequently led to an investment decision and preparation of an FDP for the c. 140mmbbl of heavy oil resource. Merlin's technical capability underpinned the commercialisation of Nautical’s value of the Kraken, Catcher and Mariner fields. The value of this commercialisation was realised when Nautical was acquired by Capricorn Energy (Cairn) in 2012.
Savannah Energy Exploration Support
More recently Merlin have assisted Savannah Energy in the western arm of the Central African Rift System. Technical support was provided from the initial stages of exploration through to Savannah’s maiden drilling campaign, via databasing, portfolio definition, seismic acquisition, well planning and corporate support. Our close and enduring relationship with Savannah’s own technical team has returned both value for money and outstanding drilling success.
